Janus Ratsdorf – Trainee Vet Nurse & Cattery

Janus began working in the Cattery in June 2019 and now works across the clinics as well. He was born in Germany and raised in rural West Auckland. He is a veterinary nursing student by day and a rescuer of ducklings by night. When he was younger he started small, just a cat, a few chickens, and some fish. Now he lives in a tiny house with his cat Comet on his parents lifestyle block complete with another: 4 cats, 2 horses, 3 cows, a number of chickens and ducks, and 9 alpacas. He has also been a scout for 14 years running and has attended 3 jamborees, a venture, and the Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School for the last 3 years. When he’s not working or studying you’ll find him covered head to toe in sawdust, paint, or dirt as he tends to all his animals or constructs his own furniture. In the future he hopes to extend his veterinary knowledge and is working on a plan to incorporate his passion for wildlife conservation and aviation.
